M-RAP - Route Adaptation

Providing dynamic routing, MiMOMax’s M-RAP is an optional suite of protocols that provides a set of standard routing, tunnelling and redundancy protocols. M-RAP allows communications to continue in the event of a failure if alternative communication links exist.

The suite enables:

  • OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) – operates within a routed multipoint (but also a point-to-point) network allowing the radio to automatically form adjacencies and populate radio routing tables. When enabled on the WAN, OSPF allows for aggregation and sharing of routes from the multipoint area to further network segments.
  • VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) – is a fundamental brick for router failover. Enables seamless hand-over to a redundant path in case of main path failure. Works for a scenario of a redundant base station or more than one remote that connects an RTU to LAN/WAN.
  • GRE (Generic Route Encapsulation) is used to transfer OSPF monitoring statistics to a central monitoring server.
  • PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast) – robust and handy sparse multicast protocol, allowing to run VoIP application across small or large networks composed of point-to-point links, integrating with standard routing and switching equipment, e.g. CiSCO.
